Annual General Meeting

A membership fee has been introduced as per the constitution - $5 per household. Membership was taken at the AGM for voting. The constitution remains unchanged at this point.
Peter Seekup presented his Chair Report for the year covering:
• Achievements
• Financial Statement
• Election of committee members
• Community Projects for 2023/2034
Achievements:
The association’s achievements since re-establishment on 20 October 2022 including:
• Creating active community engagement and information sharing via the facebook page (over 445 members); WeChat (38 members) and 84 households on the mailing list
• Representing our area for the HLB annual budget
• Starting the Good Sorts award to celebrate local people
• Creating community awareness on the Chenier at Macleans Park
• Holding two public meetings on traffic calming along the Parade
• Helped to solve issues about noise and public disturbance at the War Memorial Hall
• Working with the HLB on the Fishing Bylaw
• Started ‘Coffee with a Cop’ initiative
• Berm project raising awareness of responsibilities
Peter thanked all committee members for their hard work this year and farewell to those members moving on.
Financial Statement
Peter showed the financial statement for end of financial year July 2023.
Balance of accounts:
Opening Balance $6,380.23
Closing Balance $5,792.58

Election
Jamie Kent moved the Chairperson nomination. Seconded and carried. Peter Seekup moved that all positions nominated be elected. All nominations were seconded and carried by the voters.

Discussed how HLB is run and how it works. Priorities for financial year.
Discussed the HLB Action Plan and the 6 Objectives explained Provided an update on Traffic calming project – initiated by HLB – asked AT to do it
Simeon Brown – Member of Parliament for Pakuranga
Simeon Brown addressed us as local representative in parliament – how it all works for us in this area
Main issues for Peninsula as he sees it:
• Traffic – talking to AT and Eastern Busway Team on local views
• Law and order
• Intensification – UP agreed in 2016. Listened issue of the MDS legislation – councils should make decisions on where intensification should happen not parliament. His view is that the blanket approach to infrastructure does not work – infrastructure is not there.
